Actually Free RAR, 7z & ZIP Extractor

Open RAR, 7z, ZIP, TAR and GZ archives free without WinRAR, including password-protected ones, or make an AES-256 password zip.

What it does

ActuallyFreeTools opens RAR, 7-Zip, ZIP, TAR, GZ and dozens of other archive formats for free without installing WinRAR or 7-Zip — including password-protected archives. Save one file or everything. It can also bundle files into a zip, optionally encrypted with AES-256. Archives are opened in your browser by 7-Zip compiled to WebAssembly.

How to use it

  1. Choose Open an archive or Make a zip.
  2. Drop the archive (enter its password if asked), or drop files to zip.
  3. Download single files, everything, or your new zip.

Questions people ask

Can it open RAR files?

Yes, including RAR5, using the 7-Zip engine.

Can Windows open the password zip?

AES-256 zips open in 7-Zip, WinRAR, macOS Archive Utility and most modern tools, but not Windows’ built-in unzip.

Is there a size limit?

Only your device’s memory; archives of a few hundred MB are fine on most computers.

Is Unzip & zip files on ActuallyFreeTools really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no daily limit, no watermark and no paid tier. Nothing is held back for paying users.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Unzip & zip files runs inside your browser, so your files are processed on your own device and never sent to a server. That is also why there is nothing to meter or charge for.
