What it does
ActuallyFreeTools compresses photos for free with a quality slider, or to a target file size — 20 KB, 50 KB, 100 KB, 1 MB — finding the best quality that fits and shrinking dimensions only if needed. It works in batches and handles iPhone HEIC. Everything runs in your browser; no photo is uploaded.
How to use it
- Drop your images.
- Choose By quality, or By file size and the target.
- Compress and download.
Questions people ask
How do I get a photo under 20 KB?
Choose By file size → 20 KB. If quality alone is not enough it reduces the dimensions too.
My form needs exact pixels as well as size — what do I use?
Photo & signature for forms sets exact width and height, a KB range and the DPI together.
Does it work on PNG?
Yes. Output is JPG, which is far smaller for photos; transparent areas become white.
Is Compress images on ActuallyFreeTools really free?
Yes. There is no sign-up, no daily limit, no watermark and no paid tier. Nothing is held back for paying users.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Compress images runs inside your browser, so your files are processed on your own device and never sent to a server. That is also why there is nothing to meter or charge for.
