Actually Free Metadata Remover

See and remove hidden data: photo EXIF and GPS location, PDF author, software and dates. Free, private, nothing uploaded.

What it does

ActuallyFreeTools shows the hidden data inside a photo or PDF and removes it for free. Photos can carry the camera model and the exact GPS location where they were taken; PDFs carry the author’s name, software and dates. Images are re-encoded so every tag is gone, and PDF metadata fields are cleared. Nothing is uploaded.

How to use it

  1. Drop a photo or PDF.
  2. Review what it is carrying — including any GPS location.
  3. Strip it and download the clean copy.

Questions people ask

Do photos really contain my location?

Phone photos often record GPS coordinates accurate to a few metres. Many websites strip them, but email, messaging apps and file sharing often do not.

Does removing EXIF change the picture?

The image is re-saved at high quality; it looks the same but carries no tags.

What does PDF metadata reveal?

Typically the author’s name, the software and version used, and creation and modification dates.

Is Remove hidden data on ActuallyFreeTools really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up, no daily limit, no watermark and no paid tier. Nothing is held back for paying users.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Remove hidden data runs inside your browser, so your files are processed on your own device and never sent to a server. That is also why there is nothing to meter or charge for.
